Location
Service is friendly and attentive, and the staff remember requests, handle tour bookings, store luggage while guests take day or two-day trips to Iceland’s geysers or fjords, and make suggestions about local Reykjavik thermal pools. Housekeeping and laundry service is efficient
Shoba's Notes
I stayed at Sandhotel during a fabulous trip to Iceland with my daughter.
It was to report on a story for Robb Report magazine.
The owners have a novel approach to conservation: they simply buy up historic buildings including the home of Nobel-prize winning author Halldór Laxness, and the beloved Sandholt bakery next door. Room service includes less-sugary Icelandic donuts, or a bespoke suit from the venerable if unpronounceable tailor, Guðsteinn Eyjólfsson, located next door and also owned by the hotel.
